More charges laid against physician
A physician practising in King faces even more charges. Investigators with the York Regional Police Special Victims Unit – Sexual Assault Section, laid additional charges against a 49-year-old doctor after 11 additional victims came forward to report that they had been sexually assaulted at a medical clinic in the Township of King. The investigation began in August 2020, when two female victims, 49 and 28, came forward to report they had been sexually assaulted by their doctor during visits to their medical clinic. The investigation revealed that from 2008 to 2017, the victims had attended appointments at the Schomberg Medical Centre, located at 17250 Highway 27. During the appointments, they were sexually assaulted. Investigators released the name and photo of the accused, which helped 11 additional victims to come forward to report. Each of the victims described similar experiences of being sexually assaulted while they were attending appointments. One of the additional victims was 17 years old at the time she was sexually assaulted. Investigators believe that this doctor practiced at the Schomberg Medical Centre as well as other clinics in southern Ontario and want to ensure that there are no further victims.
