The stage is set for the 3rd annual “Let’s Rock ‘n Roll MS Away” family fun day.
The annual family day and car show takes place at the Schomberg fairgrounds on Father’s Day, June 19, running 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
It promises to be a fun-filled 1950s themed day of good, wholesome fun including a classic car show, live entertainment, children’s activities, Elvis, old fashioned BBQ, unique vendors and much, much more. Last year’s event featured more than 200 cars and welcomed more than 2,000 guests.
Headlining the Main Stage is Bruno Nesci, with his incredible “Elvis” show, as well as other local home grown talent.  Attractions throughout the fairgrounds include an incredible Car Show featuring classic, custom, European and street rods, complete with “Best in Show” prizes. For the youngsters, they can see a birds of prey show, catch a glimpse of statue-like “Silver Elvis,” enjoy a caricature artist, pony rides, petting zoo, and even a dunk tank. Indulge with a slice of wood burning pizza, burger, poutine, hand-cut fries, fresh squeezed lemonade or ice cream straight from the ice cream truck – everything for the young and young at heart.
Monia Isgro, chair of the committee, is afflicted with MS and knows first-hand how important it is to raise awareness of this awful disease that strikes both men and women in the primes of their lives.
“The goal of holding this event is to promote awareness and to raise much needed funds to help those living with MS in York Region. Last year’s event achieved both! All who attended are now a little more knowledgeable about MS and its effect on those inflicted with the disease.”
Over the past two years, the event has raised over $40,000, with the funds donated to the York Region MS Chapter – Client support services, assisting those who suffer from MS directly; and Sunnybrook MS Research Clinic, to help to find a cure.
The event would not be possible without the participation and significant contribution of volunteers and generous sponsors.
Tickets for the event are available at the gate. A $5 donation will get you into the event.
