Witnesses sought in serious collision involving King seniors


Investigators with the York Regional Police Major Collision Investigation Unit are seeking witnesses following a serious collision in the Town of Georgina.
On Sunday, April 24, at 5:30 p.m., police responded to a serious collision the intersection of Varney Road and Metro Road N in the Town of Georgina. A Honda Civic travelling south collided in the intersection with a westbound Chevrolet Equinox.
A passenger in the Honda Civic, an 80-year-old man from King Township, was airlifted to hospital with life-threatening injuries. The driver of the Honda, a 74-year-old man from King, was transported to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries as well as a 70-year-old woman from King and a 67-year-old woman from King.
The driver of the Equinox as well as two passengers were transported to hospital with minor injuries and have since been released.
The investigation is ongoing and any witnesses who have not yet spoken with police are being asked to please come forward.
