Thanks for clinic supportTo the residents of Schomberg: Thanks to you, patients in the Township of King and York Region were able to make memories with friends and family. These are moments they will never forget and were made possible because of your commitment to supporting blood donation. In the month of December we asked for your help and you responded. 72 units of blood were collected at the Schomberg clinic. We were able to achieve a remarkable 124% to our collection target. To a hospital patient and their family, this was an incredible gift. This is the time of year where collecting blood can be challenging, and your support contributed to a very successful month. In December close to 70,000 units of blood were collected across Canada. We not only met our target, we achieved 102%! All thanks to your support. There are so many ways to get involved and lead your community, empowering them to help and change the life of a loved one or a complete stranger. Thank you for rising to the challenge and making this happen in Schomberg. As we start 2016, many people are looking to make a difference this year. Why not give life through blood donation. Continuing to support our community by encouraging people to become blood donors is important as we start off a new year. With still just 4% of eligible Canadians donating and 50% either needing blood themselves or knowing someone who will, there is no better time to get started. This year, 100,000 new blood donors will be needed to meet patient needs. That's more than 1,900 new donors every week across Canada. The next Schomberg clinic at the Trisan Centre is scheduled for Family Day, Monday, Feb. 15, from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thank you again for supporting Canadian Blood Services and making this year's holiday campaign a huge success!
