Speed skaters converge on Trisan Centre for regional meet

By Jake Courtepatte
For the third year in a row, the King Speed Skating Club played host to the Ontario Speed Skating Association Central Ontario Meet at the Trisan Centre on Saturday.
Close to 100 speed skaters took to the ice to compete at the day-long event, representing clubs from all across southern Ontario.
“It was our third year hosting the event, and everything went very well,” said club president Rose Kimber. “We had a lot of volunteers come out whose help made everything run very smoothly.”
Thirteen-year-old Noah Stapleton finished first in the “Bravo” division, beating out 15 other competitors age 11-13. He was happy with his outcome and the event overall.
“The ice was really good,” he said. “I skated well.”
Seven members of the King club competed in the event.
The King Speed Skating Club is a registered, non-profit organization, run exclusively by volunteers.
