King staffers are a compassionate bunch.
In fact, their fundraising efforts will go a long way.
Township staff presented a cheque to the United Way of Toronto and York Region for $9,812.60 last week, the fruits of their labours.
Mayor Steve Pellegrini said he wanted to personally thank staff for their contributions. For such a small organization, this amount is “outstanding,” he said.
“We’re very proud of you for giving back,” he added.
King CAO Susan Plamondon said through special events and payroll deductions, staff always rise to the challenge.
“King staff have big hearts and share readily for those in need,” she observed.
Laura Weir, associate manager, resource development of the United Way Toronto & York Region, said they’re thankful for King’s ongoing support.
“A lot of people have been helped in King and beyond,” she said. Staff began their fundraisers in 2011 and to date, they have raised a total of $42,000.
