A King family has opened its doors to the world.
Whether they’re visiting King for a wedding or event, or just need a romantic getaway, visitors are treated like family at 20 Bells Lake.
As its motto indicates, it’s “no ordinary bed and breakfast.”
The spacious country home of Kristee and Ramon Regozo can provide that perfect amount of private solace. Or, they can host the event of your life, with ample helpings of romance, enchantment and vibrance.
Combined, the three large suites can accommodate a group of a dozen or so, for your wedding party. Weary travellers and families can find a comfy place to rest their heads.
They purchased the property roughly 10 years ago and immediately fell in love with the idea of operating a B&B. “It just felt right,” Ramon said.
Each of the spacious suites has a personal touch, thanks to Kristee’s design flair. The Romance suite, with a Victorian theme, is ideal for couples and boasts all amenities including TV, DVD, Wi-Fi bathroom and mini-fridge. The oriental-themed Enchanted suite and Vibrant family suite all exude a cozy atmosphere, with all the comforts of home. Kristee designed everything – the rooms, decor and even how the breakfasts are presented.
There’s a whirlpool room which can be booked, as well as a large lounge and two separate eating areas. Guests also have use of the upstairs living room, with great views.
The charm continues into the walkout outdoor patio and garden.
Ramon noted the grounds have been used for both small and large gatherings.
20 Bells Lake has many features going for it. The walls are double insulated, ensuring privacy.
Visitors, according to Ramon, rave about their  breakfasts. They’re really extraordinary and not your typical continental fare. He and Kristee recently served up salmon and cream cheese omelets, and ham and cheese crepes. They also offer a real breakfast-in-bed option.
“The breakfast has to be good,” he said. “It’s the last thing they have.”
An IT manager by profession, Ramon provides an exacting level of service to his guests. Reputation is everything.
He said roughly half of his stays tend to be wedding guests and he can accommodate entire wedding parties. The location is convenient for weddings taking place in York, Caledon or Vaughan. A good portion of his visitors are equestrians, many of whom compete at nearby Caledon Equestrian Park in Palgrave. The recent Toronto 2015 Pan Am Games saw an influx of equestrian guests from all over the world.
The facility is also a perfect stop for business travellers and parents who need a getaway. They can easily accommodate groups for business retreats.
Ramon and Kristee simply love people and the company they provide.
“It’s definitely the people,” Ramon said. “They make it so rewarding.”
They have travelled all over the world and visited other B&Bs to see how they can improve his service.
Dealing with a B&B owner, guests feel at ease. Ramon and Kristee have built up a great rapport with area businesses and based on feedback, are able to recommend a variety of local restaurants, shops or attractions, even dog-sitters.
20 Bells Lake is also part of the Red Cross emergency shelter program, which provides accommodation to those in need, or who have lost their homes to tragedies.
Ramon said they benefit from their strong online presence – their website and booking through sites such as Expedia.ca and Booking.com. They also endeavour to earn positive feedback on tripadvisor.ca.
And yes, there is a Bells Lake. It’s a small, privately owned kettle lake across the road. Ramon noted the neighbours are very generous, allowing his guests access to the lake.
Historians have also indicated that Bells Lake was the site of a hotel, accommodating those using the Carrying Place route.
Whether you’re in King for an event or occasion, or just looking for a private retreat, consider 20 Bells Lake.
