Nobleton will welcome visitors from far and wide for one of the best Victoria Day celebrations around.
The annual Victoria Day festival runs Monday, May 18, starting at 11 a.m.
The day begins at 11 a.m. with the parade starting at Highway 27 and Sheardown. It makes its way through the village along King Road and towards the community centre grounds with floats, marching bands, classic cars and teams of horses. Local emergency personnel and dignitaries will be on hand. Classic cars always turn some heads. Participants include the Lions Club, local councillors, local marital arts clubs, Shriners, etc.
The fair will feature a midway, bouncy castles, and rides, as well as “tons of food” and many vendors. Food boths hail from local businesses and service clubs, including the Lions and Knights of Columbus. Home made pizza right from the pizza oven at Primal Pizza. Find your favourite blend at the Coffee Barn. And don’t forget to get your popcorn from Auntie Jo’s Kettle Corn before the fireworks.
The vendors will be selling a plethora of goods including clothing, both local and imported, hats, sunglasses, jewelry and stoneware. Don’t miss the seasonal plants offered by the horticultural society, as well as face-painting for the little ones.
Reptilia will be on hand with some exotic animals.
Representatives from the Pan Am Games are bringing a game, prizes and information on the games.
Loosen up your throwing arm for the dunk tank, sponsored by Nobleton United Church. Aim well to dunk the likes of Mayor Steve Pellegrini, Councillor David Boyd, Alf and Dave Budweth. It’s a fundraiser for church programs.
The midway, presented by Superior Event Midway, opens at noon.
“Time Trip” Band and “Elvis,” sponsored by Tim Hortons Nobleton. Get your picture taken with Elvis!
Finally, when the sun sets, Nobleton Fire and Emergency Services members present the largest private fireworks display in the province. The spectacle draws residents from far and wide.
The firefighters rely on donations, and they will be accepting donations at the park entrances.
Nobleton Victoria Day is presented in partnership between the Nobleton Village Association and the Township of King. For more, visit nobletonvillage.com.
