KNSC reps are champions

The U11 girls’ rep squad of the KNSC captured the title at the recent Toronto event.

This is the second year that the Kleinburg Nobleton Soccer Club 2004 Girls Rep team has divided into two teams for The Toronto Futsal League.  Last year, the KNSC Blue team played in the final only to lose in a penalty shootout to Wexford.
This year it was the Red team who played in the final against Woodbridge and this year KNSC 2004 Girls emerged as the champions!
The Junior Girls U11 final was held Saturday, April 11 at the Toronto Pan Am Centre, a brand new facility built for Pan Am Games. The stands were filled with supporters and the girls were a bit nervous to play in front of such a large crowd. At times during the game it was so loud that it was almost impossible to hear the coach’s instructions from the bench. The loudest fans were the members of the Blue team who came to support their teammates in a great demonstration of camaraderie.
Since the semi-finals the team had been preparing certain strategies and in the final game the girls executed these strategies with consistency.
Solid defence by Hannah and Elizabeth kept the goalie well protected with their 1 vs. 1 determination minimizing the number of shots on net, however, the goalie Elisa earned a shutout by skillfully managing every shot that came her way during the game.
The team powered through ensuring possession with accurate passing and control by the forwards Alyssa, Eva, Isabella, Jaspreet and Sophia, who kept the momentum strong as they skillfully played the ball toward the opposing net.  Awesome work by the strikers Sofia and Milena, who showed amazing tenacity and persistence around the Woodbridge strikers’ net. The team dominated in all aspects of the game and won convincingly.
Sophia was the final game MVP and the goalkeeper, Elisa, won U11 Player of the Year. Coach Dmitri won Coach of the Year, that rightly should be shared with Assistant Coach Tiffany.
Also thanks to managers Jeanine and Belinda for keeping everything organized at a top level.
