Precision Arms is renowned the world over for its resident gunsmith, and the venerable King business is just as astute when it comes to outfitting outdoor enthusiasts from head to toe.
Precision Arms is a select retail partner for the exclusive Härkila line of outdoor clothing. Well known and revered across Europe, Härkila is one of the best, and Canadian consumers can now enjoy this fine line of clothing close to home.
Härkila offers premium clothes, footwear and bags primarily for hunting. Its roots are in those inhospitable Nordic climates, giving humans a slight edge over nature. The line is suitable for equestrians, hikers and anyone who spends a lot of time outdoors.
The development and design of Härkila is done with no compromises. New products introduce state-of-the-art technology, materials and functionality while maintaining the fundamental qualities of excellent hunting gear.
The company stresses that hunting is about being in the wild for hours or days on end. It’s about trusting your instinct and your gear enough for you to enter an almost trancelike state, become one with nature and realize that nothing else really matters.
“At Härkila, our aim is to bring you just that: The best experience with nature, no matter what the conditions might be.”
Precision’s Lisa Milton said Härkila sought them out as a Canadian retailer because of husband Stephen’s reputation as one of the finest craftsmen of hunting rifles and shotguns. They are one of the only full-line retailers.
Lisa pointed to one of the company’s backpacks, which incorporates countless attachments and even a built-in seat for those long treks in the woods. It’s not only ergonomic but extremely functional and practical.
The boots, Lisa pointed out, are made from “real rubber,” and not the synthetics commonly found at the retail level. In the rubber boot line, they are rated between minus-10 to minus-30 C, offering incredible protection and warmth.
One of the neatest products is a tiny, portable foam seat pad, perfect for hockey parents at cold arenas, and avid outdoors folk to who need added comfort when sitting on that inhospitable rock or tree trunk.
Precision Arms does business world wide and they’ve received inquiries on the Härkila brand from across Canada and the U.S.
Lisa said she just loves going to work in the morning and helping customers.
One customer (who ventured into the store during this interview)?remarked how comfortable, light-weight and fashionable the ladies’ jacket was. She’s an avid dog walker and needs a quality jacket that would last.
Lisa said one of the best selling men’s jackets was the Angus, made from buffalo nubuck. Customers who have bought this jacket tell her it gets more comfortable with every wear.
They offer the complete line, from head to toe. Other products include socks, gloves, shirts and belts. The winter clothing is on sale, to make room for the spring and summer line.
Precision Arms, founded in 1979, is renowned for quality craftsmanship. Milton built a solid foundation for his artistry and his no-compromise approach to perfecting the modern firearm.
The master gunsmith continues to hone his craft and is highly regarded, the world over, for his quality designs. His customers hail from around the globe, many from south of the border, where sport shooting and hunting continue to grow. So much so that many new and old hunters are wanting to look into new technical attachments for their rifles, and look into the likes of this Tutorial on how Thermal Scopes are working for today’s hunting firearms. Canadians with European backgrounds also tend to be hunting enthusiasts, so Milton draws on a large group of shooters. To this day, the grandchildren of Stephen’s original customers continue to frequent the shop.
These days, his clients are those who appreciate the finer things in life and won’t settle for an off-the-shelf rifle or big game gun. Today’s affluent hunters and shooters think nothing of dishing out tens of thousands of dollars on a one-of-a-kind shotgun, personally engraved with all the bells and whistles.
Milton designs each piece to fit the user’s body type and takes everything into consideration –?the person’s neck size, length of arms, height and weight. The end result is a perfectly balanced, tailor-made firearm.
Milton is one of the few who make every component as most will farm out the barrels or stocks.
Precision Arms also sells the high-end Pilla brand of performance eyewear and carries Negrini gun cases.
If you’re like Stephen and Lisa in your desire to be immersed in nature “armed”?with the very best, drop by and see their Härkila line.
