The world is coming to the region for the Pan Am Games this summer and the equestrian industry is gearing up for the world-class show.
King residents are encouraged to join the enthusiasm as events will be hosted in nearby Caledon and Mono. Equestrian events of the will be hosted t the Caledon Equestrian Park and the Pan Am Cross Country Centre at Will O’Wind in the Town of Mono, from July 11-25.
The Headwaters Equine Leadership Group is welcoming visitors with a novel idea – the “Headwaters Parade of Horses,” a whimsical and unique series of outdoor horse sculptures featuring fiberglass horses transformed through the creativity of talented artisans.
The Headwaters Parade of Horses statues will be displayed throughout the Headwaters Region during the 2015 Games.
The Headwaters Equine Leadership Group is looking for artists to bring these magnificent sculptures to life. Consideration for this program is open to all artists (individual or groups) and the deadline for submissions is 11:55 p.m. on Monday, April 6. Those interested can visit HeadwatersHorseCountry.ca for program criteria and to register for consideration as a Headwaters Parade of Horses artist.
Along with highlighting the majesty of the horse and showcasing the talent of local artists, the Headwaters Parade of Horses is also an opportunity for individuals or businesses to own a one-of-a-kind horse sculpture.
Each horse statue is approximately 5 feet tall (or 15 hands), 6 feet long, and weighs approximately 250 pounds, and are available for purchase for $3,500. These horses will be displayed in prominent locations across the region from June through to August, and will be transported to their rightful purchasers late August and September.
Imagine owning a one-of-a-kind horse sculpture for your business or residence.  This is a unique opportunity to encourage local exploration, showcase local artists and show your Horse Country pride!
Headwaters Horse Country is also pleased to be partnering with Equine Canada and the Ontario Equestrian Federation for Horse Experience 2015.
In July 2015, the Headwaters region will be host to Horse Experience 2015, a month long showcase of horses and horse-related activities throughout the area.  This exciting July calendar of events will include the Headwaters Horse Country Stable Tour, racetrack tours and tours of educational facilities, as well as breed and sport demonstrations, high-end equestrian clinics, horse sales and equi-tourism opportunities.
These events will take place in the area surrounding the Pan Am equestrian competition venues in Caledon and Mono.  Horse Experience 2015 will encourage all Canadians, as well as the thousands of expected international visitors for the Pan Am Games to see, touch and experience horses in Canada.
