Witnesses sought in suspicious house fire

York Regional Police are hoping the public can help find answers following a suspicious fire in rural King last week.
Police investigators are looking into the fire that occurred Feb. 12 at 5 p.m. in a rural area at 14740 Keele Street, in the area of Keele Street south of 16th Sideroad. The fire was quickly extinguished but there was minor smoke and fire damage to the residence.
Police note the house was unoccupied at the time. A search was conducted and it was determined it was a former marihuana grow operation, but not currently in use. Police seized equipment indicating it was used to grow marihuana.
Police investigators and staff of the Office of the Fire Marshal and Emergency Management were on the scene last week.
