The NobleKing novice A Knights travelled to Huntsville to participate in the Huntsville Duke Knox Tournament from Nov. 21-23.
In all, 13 teams came out to win and the gold went to NobleKing!
The first game was on Friday night which resulted in a 3-2 loss against Midland, a team who has been together for 3 years and in their 3 seasons of playing hockey has only lost a handful of their regular season games and is undefeated in tournament games.
The local team was disappointed with the loss, but definitely not beat. They proceeded to play an early Saturday morning game against Baysville with an outstanding win of 6-0. Another victory came for the team later in the afternoon against Parry Sound Shamrocks, with a win of 10-2, putting NobleKing third in the semifinal round.
Sunday’s semifinal game was played against Prince Edward County and with some amazing hockey and the drive to win, NobleKing got it done with a 5-3 win, putting them in the finals to be played later in the afternoon.
The matchup was NobleKing vs. Midland, the team who had beaten NobleKing in their Friday night opener.
The Knights never lost sight of their objective and overwhelmed the Midland team with a two-goal lead early in the game. With heart and determination, the NobleKing nights won the game 4-2, bringing the gold back to King City!
It was an awesome experience for these young players. The dedicated coaching staff of Paul Hampton, Andrew Ella, Alex Pozdrowski, Aaron Goggins and Kyle Goggins are to be congratulated. The parents of these players put a lot of time into their kids and spend hours in the arena just so that their boys can live out their dream, even just for a little while. All were so proud to watch them play this weekend.
Congratulations to players Luca Bevilacqua, Jack Caravaggio, Luca Cellucci, Adrian De Melis, Cohen D’Ulisse, Nathan Evangelista, Christian Lauriola, Daniel Manfrini, Gianluca Nicolini, Kieran Riley, Tennyson Tobin, James Dean Ventresca and goalies Patrick Sutherland and Athan Valkanas.
Keep up the hard work team. More amazing hockey is yet to come!
