The organizer of a local fundraiser for MS is just thrilled about the event’s success.
Schomberg’s In This Corner Bar and Grill hosted the fundraiser, with employee Martina Scinocco leading the charge.
Her initial goal was $1,000 and thanks to the support and generosity of the community, the event raised a total of $2,274.
Scinocco said the original band cancelled but the music still went on as a group of guys came to the rescue and offered their services for free.
“So a huge thank you to Steve, Janis and Mike. The raffle and 50/50 draw went on as planned and were a success – everybody who came to restaurant participated.”
Scinocco extends a huge thank you to In This Corner owners Gord, Gord Jr. and Steve Franjic. “I couldn’t have done it without them,” she said.
The life-long King resident has lived in both Nobleton and Schomberg.
Scinocco, 27, was officially diagnosed with MS in June of 2013.
While the effects of the disease are evident, Scinocco prefers to be optimistic and proactive.
“By creating awareness and understanding we will be able to improve treatment options for example instead of taking a needle every day,” she said.
