Lions Walk for Dog Guides best ever!

By Mark Pavilons

Residents and their four-legged companions came in full force Sunday morning to support the annual Purina Walk or Dog Guides in Nobleton.

This event, to support the Lions Foundation of Canada's Dog Guide program, was the most successful to date, according to Lion Paul Olsen.

It was a beautiful day for the walk with approximately 50 participants raising approximately $12,000. The numbers are not yet finalized as contributions continue to come in.

Olsen said they not only had lot of dogs come out, but they had two dogs in training attend the event.

“Thanks to all who supported this effort,” he said.

Also on hand was Nobleton's own Bev Berger, a national spokesperson for the Lions' Dog Guide program. She took part with Jasper, her fourth companion guide. This was Berger's 25th walk for this cause.

The Lions Foundation now offers six different dog guide programs for various disabilities and demand continues to rise each year.

Thanks to fundraisers like this, the support continues for the Lions Foundation efforts.
