The main street of historic Schomberg will be a hive of activity during the 5th annual Street Gallery.
The highly anticipated Arts Society King event takes place this weekend, Sept. 21 and 22 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day.
Stroll along Main Street and enjoy the atmosphere generated by fine artists from King and beyond. Visitors can view and purchase original works of art in a range of media that includes oil, acrylic, watercolour, photography, jewellery and rug hooking.
Event chair Tom Wray said each year they add different media, and the artists are always “interesting.”
Attending this year is wood-turner George Burt who uses old railway ties for his creations.
Husband and wife artists Mike and Betty McGowan will shoe their acrylic and watercolour pieces.
Featured artist Gaia Orion, whose company The Funky Clothesline gained notoriety, will be on hand with her spiritual themed work that involves nature and the circle of life.
New this year, the Community Hall has been added as a display venue.
A horse-drawn wagon will make its way up and down the street, keeping the ambiance of the outdoor show. Rides are available Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Wray said it's a community affair and local shops and businesses will welcome visitors.
The event is supported by the Schomberg Village Association, whose members were busy sprucing up the surroundings for the event.
The Schomberg Lions will also be on hand serving lunch featuring traditional barbecued fare.
There is no shortage of good food in Schomberg, so visit one of the local establishments.
Music will be provided this year by Aidan Todd- Parrish (flute) and Peter Shoebridge (guitar) in various locations in the village.
