Mayor Steve Pellegrini will continue to serve King as the head of council.
The mayor, for the second time in a row, will be acclaimed, with no one stepping up to run as nominations closed Friday afternoon. Pellegrini’s second consecutive acclamation is unprecedented in King’s political history.
Pellegrini was acclaimed in his re-election bid in 2014. He was elected mayor in 2010.
“I am extremely humbled by, and truly appreciate the confidence the great people of King have shown in me,” he said.
“I promise to continue to work hard to encourage economic growth, increase broadband, improve our roads and improve the quality of life for our residents.
“We have finished the third and final bridge associated with the Holland Marsh drainage project and now those operating funds can go directly into improving our roads and making them safer.
“We will continue to beautify our village cores along with increasing the services the Township provides to meet the needs of our communities.
“A heartfelt thank you to all the residents of King for the faith and support you have shown in me over these many years.”
